To celebrate Sydney Craft Beer Week 2013 (October 19th-‐26th), Black Penny have teamed up with Sydney Brewery, as well as an array of Sydney’s most impressive emerging artists to create a limited edition brew aptly named ‘Black Magic’.
The beer will be officially unveiled at a launch event on the evening of Tuesday Oct 22nd from 6pm. The Black Magic brew will be flowing from the tap for thirsty craft beer enthusiasts and curious patrons to purchase. Black Penny created a tasting menu to match their limited edition beer, a menu that will undoubtedly delight and heighten the ‘Black Magic’ drinking experience.
Staying true to their intention to find a synergy between food, beverage and the arts, Black Penny have also commissioned 12 of Sydney’s most impressive young artists to create custom labels for ‘Black Magic’ growlers. To compliment these collaborations, the launch of ‘Black Magic’ will also see a showcase of custom-‐ made works by the 12 Sydney artists at Black Penny’s adjoining gallery space, Blacklisted. Each artist will use illustrative and typographical forms to bring their own unique interpretation to the theme ‘Black Magic,’ using the growler bottle as their canvas.
The talented troupe who have come on board for the project include Sydney illustrator and muralist Alex Lehours, Typography virtuoso Georgia Hill, China Height’s Mark Drew and Jamaican contemporary artist Robin Clare.
The evenings vibe will be complimented by Afro Funk band The Liberators, who will indulge the crowd with tasty morsels from their upcoming album ‘Power Struggle.’
