A fresh and less-nostalgic photographic exposé of Sydney’s disappearing industrial heritage, by emerging photographer Reiner Spliedt.

The striking steel-blues and deep black hues of Reiner’s dramatic images reference the blueprints engineers used to dream-up these man-made giants and the silent stillness that now envelops them.

“I photographed this series of industrial sites, including White Bay Power Station and Cockatoo Island, Sydney, with the memory of working in a foundry still clear in my mind. Compelled to create rough, cold, harsh images, I felt I was being truer to the nature of these sites than the soft sepia toned pictures in history books,” says Reiner.

For an unconventional look at historic Sydney, don’t miss this show, presented in association with the 2013 Head On Festival.
