The community is invited to Boronia Pre-release Centre for Women on Saturday 2 November when the Bentley facility opens its doors to the public for its annual Gala Day.
From 10.30 am to 2.30 pm, visitors will be able to peruse the range of wares for sale, including handmade toys, decorative craft items, plants and tasty treats such as Devonshire teas, cakes and preserves.
At noon there will be an auction of some of the paintings donated to Boronia this year, with items on display for viewing and registration from Friday 1 November between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm, and on Gala Day itself from 10.30 am until 11.45 am.
Family and Community Services Manager Leah Hanson said Gala Day committee members and Boronia prisoners had been working all year to organise the event, which this year will support Drug ARM WA, a not-for-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre.
Last year, Boronia raised $17,000 for community organisations Indigenous Parent Factor and the Cat Haven.
Free parking is available at Curtin University in car parks 23 and 24.
