Monash University Academy of Performing Arts presents internationally acclaimed composer and conductor Eric Whitacre in a public choral workshop on Friday 12 April prior to making his Melbourne concert debut in concert on Saturday 13 April.

Whitacre will share his wealth of experience in a hands-on choral workshop for singers, choral directors and composers. Securing Whitacre’s debut concert at Robert Blackwood Hall along with a choral workshop is a coup for Monash University’s Academy of Performing Arts, headed by distinguished Australian musician and composer Paul Grabowsky.

One of the most popular and performed composers of modern times, Grammy Award-winning Whitacre’s only Melbourne concert will feature works from his two chart-topping albums Light & Gold and Water Night, the haunting choral work Lux Aurumque from his ground-breaking virtual choir project, and The River Cam, which he composed for cellist Julian Lloyd Webber’s sixtieth birthday.

Joining Whitacre in his Melbourne debut in the concert on Saturday 13 April at 7pm are Monash Sinfonia, Melbourne's Choir of Trinity College and cellist David Berlin.
