The Craft and Quilt Fair is coming to Brisbane for October 2013. A one stop destination for craft and quilting enthusiasts offering craft supplies, displays and inspiring exhibitions, workshops, guest artists and live demonstrations.

This year’s Craft and Quilt Fair offers guests the chance to shop for all the latest craft supplies from papercraft, knitting, sewing, quilting and jewellery making! As well as the opportunity to take part in workshops, exclusive Make and Take classes and our new Pop Up and Master classes.

A highlight of this year’s show is QLD guest artist Loani Prior, showcasing her wonderful tea cosy creations. Exhibiting the creations from her multiple best-selling book, How Tea Cosies Changed the World, Loani has elevated the humble tea cosy from a domestic object to a work of art. If you’re dubious that the humble tea cosy can be artistic, this is the exhibition for you!

For fans of quilting, the fair is not to be missed. This year the Queensland Quilters will be holding a special exhibition of their work, a true reflection of the state’s craft talent. Also on display is the prestigious AQC Challenge and Best of Australia exhibition. International quilting group SAQA’s (Studio Art Quilt Associates) travelling trunk show is another exhibition you must see. Their impressive display comprises 43 art quilts created by textile artists from all over the world using different and unique techniques. Also, international quilter, Judy Coates Perez from California, will be running classes each day, teaching painting and mixed media techniques.

The Craft & Quilt Fair will truly inspire presenting new ideas and projects, a chance to learn and interact with industry professionals or the opportunity to shop the latest supplies. So if you want to stitch it, sew it, bead it, scrap it, knit it, try it, quilt it or stamp it – you’ll simply love this event! The Australian Women’s Weekly is celebrating their 80 years at the fair, with Editor-in-Chief Helen McCabe appearing at the fair on Wednesday October 16 for a special presentation.
