Australian counter tenor David Hansen is carving out a formidable reputation for himself in Europe.

In Pinchgut Opera’s 2011 production of Vivaldi’s opera Griselda, he electrified audiences with the range and brilliance of his counter tenor, his ating and his mesmeric stage presence.

In this recital, exlcusive to Hobart Baroque and his only recital appearance in Australia this year, he sings a selction of baroque arias, accompanies by Erin Helyard and an ensemble of Australia’s finest baroque musicians.

David Hansen made his European debut in 2004 for the Aix-en-Provence Festival in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. Shortly thereafter, he made his UK debut in concerts with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Emmanuelle Haïm, as well as performing the title-role in Handel’s Fernando with Il Complesso Barocco under Alan Curtis for the Spoleto Festival, Italy.
