The annual Eco Open Day at North Balgowlah's Farmhouse Montessori School promises to be something special again this year with an official welcome to a 5000 strong hive of Australian native stingless bees (trigona carbonaria). The hive and the role it plays in the school's outdoor environment is believed to be unique to the Farmhouse Montessori School. The bees form an integral part of the school's extensive program to teach the children about nature and the role they can play in supporting and taking care of their environment. The Eco Open Day's theme Restoring Habitats also provides an opportunity for the school to offer education to the community about our environment and how we can play a role. The Eco Open Day will have something for everyone!
