Internationally-acclaimed and Melbourne-based Ensemble Liaison welcomes back its close friend, soprano Emma Matthews, for an evening of romantic classics including:

Chopin: Nocturne in C minor, Op. 48, No. 1
Brahms: Sonata for Clarinet and Piano in E flat major, Op. 120, No. 2
Schubert: The Shepherd on the Rock, D.965 (Op. post. 129)
Schubert: Notturno
Strauss: Four Last Songs (chamber arrangement)

Emma Matthews is one of Australia's most critically acclaimed and in demand sopranos. She appears regularly with all the major opera companies, orchestras and festivals of Australia and had her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 2010 in the title role of 'The Cunning Little Vixen'. Other career highlights include performances of Mahler's Symphony No. 4 with Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo and conductor Yakov Kreizberg and with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) under conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy, Mahler's Symphony No. 2 with the SSO and Ashkenazy, and the title role in Donizetti's 'Lucia di Lammermoor' with Opera Australia in 2012. Her solo album of bel canto arias, 'Emma Matthews in Monte Carlo' was released by Universal/ABC Classics to international acclaim.
