Critically-acclaimed Scottish quintet Frightened Rabbit are pleased to announce the details of their eagerly-awaited fourth studio album ‘Pedestrian Verse’, out February 1st. The first single from the album is ‘The Woodpile’ and the track has just been added at Triple J.

The forthcoming release was recorded at the famed Monnow Valley Studio in Rockfield, South Wales, with producer Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, David Byrne, Grace Jones).

Frightened Rabbit released the ‘State Hospital EP’ in September, which was met with rapturous applause as was the band’s last album, 2010’s ‘The Winter Of Mixed Drinks’. The Guardian declared the ‘State Hospital EP’ brilliant and the “songwriting is sharp throughout and most of their songs – with themes of escape, freedom and reinvention – have huge impassioned choruses that are made to be shouted from the nearest available mountain…This is the sound of a band upping their game.”

The band has toured consistently since their beginnings, in 2010 the band blew away Australian audiences when thy played both Laneway Festival and Splendour in the Grass, coinciding some headliner shows while here for Splendour. The band has also toured the UK, Europe and the USA heavily, including multiple runs as supports for Death Cab for Cutie, Gomez and Modest Mouse.

In the lead up to the release of ‘Pedestrian Verse’, the band has released a 17 minute documentary, a chronicling series of their recent performances in the Scottish Highlands. Frontman and guitarist Scott Hutchinson talks about the film – “It had been an ambition of mine since I started the band to take to Scotland’s outposts to play shows. The opportunity took its time to arise so when it did, it felt silly not to document the whole thing in some way.”
