Grazia Toderi Atlante Rosso 2011
Looped video projection, colour, sound; variable dimensions

In her first solo exhibition in Australia, Grazia Toderi’s alluring digital visions are equally enthralling and unsettling. Her videos have been described as ‘frescoes of light’, acknowledging the artist’s Italian heritage yet also pointing to her technique of layering drawings, photographs and maps to create mesmerising cityscapes on film.

Using the device of a mirror lens and accompanying her work with suggestive sound, Toderi suspends you between the wonder of city lights at night and a disarming sense of surveillance.

"Toderi’s images suggest glistening, breathing, atmospheres which appear to be both earthly and celestial." - Smithsonian Magazine

"Opera houses, stadiums, cities, television memories, stars and planets are all transformed into pulsating worlds of light." - Edition Charta
