Independent games take over Melbourne’s biggest TV.

Fed Square and Freeplay present Indie Allsorts, a free interactive games program on the Melbourne’s biggest public screen every Wednesday from 30 January to 27 February.

Handpicked by the Freeplay gaming industry experts, Indie Allsorts includes the hottest new games from local and international independent game designers transforming Fed Square into Melbourne’s ultimate outdoor loungeroom.

The Big Screen will transform into a massive 65 square metre gaming platform for gamers, button mashers and motion trackers.

Commissioned by Fed Square’s Creative Program, Indie Allsorts offers players a unique opportunity to try their hands at the best independent games with the added dimension of playing on a screen more than 100 times the size of a standard home television.

The selection of indie games includes multiplayer games Nidhogg and Cumulo Nimblers, physical challenges such as Lemon Jousting and Ninja, and the less strenuous Crayon Physics Deluxe and Bocce Drift.

Indie Allsorts builds on the success of the Big Screen Gaming program at Fed Square, which periodically offers established games such as Pac-Man, Angry Birds and LEGO Star Wars. Big Screen Gaming will also run in February, every Thursday evening, 6pm – 9pm.

Indie Allsorts is the latest addition to Fed Square’s ongoing Creative Program, which produces an all-year round multimedia activities that utilise the biggest public screen in Melbourne as its primary platform. The Creative Program team work with a variety of local, national and international artists and organisations to present dynamic multimedia events and activities. Partners include Melbourne International Film Festival, Propaganda Window. QUT Creative Industries, Experimenta and many more.

Indie Allsorts is a free event suitable for all ages. No advance bookings – register to reserve a place in specific games on the day.
