IIris Dement announces Australian Tour Dates in support of Sing The Delta.

"Her voice is extraordinary, there's nobody like her"- Emmylou Harris

Considered "one of the finest artists of her generation", Iris DeMent, has returned with her first
album of original music in 16 years, 'Sing The Delta'. The LP brings the delta to life through
timeless songs, DeMent's richly evocative voice and support from a cast of first-call musicians
including Al Perkins, Reese Wynans, and album co-producers Bo Ramsey and Richard Bennett.
Iris will play three Australian shows in December. These dates will be her first shows in Australia
since 1998.

‘Sing The Delta’ presents twelve self-penned compositions from an artist whose first three albums
established her as one of the most beloved and respected writers and singers in American music.
Her debut album 'Infamous Angel' was deemed an "essential recording of the 90s" by Rolling
Stone and the NY Times said it "distills love, heartbreak, disillusionment and humor in songs that
go straight for the heartstrings." Its 1994 follow-up, ‘My Life’, earned a Grammy nomination in
the Contemporary Folk category. 1996’s ‘The Way I Should’ addressed political as well as
personal themes and also earned a Grammy nomination. 2004's 'Lifeline' was a collection of
traditional gospel songs that she sang as a child growing up in a Pentecostal household in
California, the youngest of 14 children.

Iris has sung duets with Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris and John Prine, her song ‘The Everlasting
Arms" was featured in the Coen Brothers' 'True Grit’ while ‘Let The Mystery Be’ found its way to
MTV Unplugged as a duet by David Byrne and Natalie Merchant.

Finding artists to wax lyrical about Iris’ talents isn’t a difficult task. John Prine stated, "Iris
DeMent's songs talk. They talk about isolated memories of life, love and living. So listen to this
music, this Iris DeMent. It's good for you” while Steve Earle proclaims "Merle Haggard says Iris
DeMent is one of the best damn singers he's ever heard. I agree. She's also one of the best
songwriters I know."

Supports to be announced.
