Sydney Hip Hop Artist Joel Rafidi has been nominated for three awards in the Urban category and one award for Video of the Year at the Music Oz/Australian Independent Music Awards (the ARIAs for independent artists!) that will be held on Thursday 7 November. He has also just announced live Sydney dates for November and December to coincide with the release of his debut single – Beautiful Life.

November 25 sees the release of Joel’s first single, ‘Beautiful Life’, taken from his debut album which he has been recording over the past 12 months and will be released next year. Posted on triple j's Unearthed last week, it has already amassed over 2500 streams and downloads which is representative of Joel's strong fan base.

Three of the new tracks off the album were submitted for this year's MusicOz Awards, and amazingly, all three (along with one of his previous videos) were accepted in the final nominations in the Urban category - the only artist to have that many tracks nominated.

Musicoz is a national initiative dedicated to improving the quality of original music culture in Australia, where entrants are judged by the elite of the music and entertainment industry. Past winners include Bliss N Eso, Blue King Brown, the Jezabels, Bluejuice, Art Vs Science – just to name a few!

Over the past four years Joel has been pursuing his place among the artists that have inspired him. Working independently, he has evolved as a songwriter, producer and rapper creating mix tapes, EP's, videos, whilst also establishing himself as a live performer.
