A famous opera star from Hong Kong is sworn to a life of secrecy after being forced to give up her baby to the family of her married lover. Years later, as she is tragically struck by a terminal illness, an extraordinary opportunity arises; to meet her estranged son, who is now an adult and performance art student. But after a lifetime of separation, what is she to do?

Based on an idea and story originally conceived by Gabrielle Chan, Life’s A Stage is written by Joe Chan and directed by Harry Tseng. This bilingual play (subtitled in English and Chinese), is performed by a Chinese-Australian cast and is interwoven with Cantonese Opera excerpts and traditional Chinese music.

Presented by Australasian Art and Stageworks as a Chinese New Year Festival event.
