To celebrate Lilydale’s history and its connection with wood. There'll be lots happening - some is high art, and some is madcap joyous fun! Please join us to help celebrate!

This inaugural Lilydale Festival of Wood is to celebrate Lilydale’s beginnings and the recognition that Lilydale’s history is intimately related to, if not directly resulting from wood.

There is another motive in the inaugural Lilydale Festival of Wood – it is to celebrate wood. Wood is a beautiful, renewable, sustainable resource that provides shelter, warmth, food and artistic beauty to humans as well as being critical to the well-being of the planet and all the things that grow on and live in it. We were lucky enough to secure two grants for the Festival of Wood – Events Tasmania and the Tasmanian Regional Arts are supporting it and our aim is to make this Festival something that happens not just once, but regularly into the future – and becomes part of the rhythm of Lilydale’s life.

A great deal of planning has been undertaken to provide a fantastic Festival of Wood.

Also this is the opening of the newly painted poles along the main road of Lilydale and the art work is fantastic and well worth a wander to enjoy our local talented artists. You may even recognise some people and activities.

See you in March!
