The John Montesante Quintet (JMQ) is a stylish, horn-led combo formed in 1990 by Jazz Trumpet, Arranger and Composer, John Montesante.

Influenced by bebop, the band offers a modern take on standards as well as John Montesante's special jazz arrangements. The John Montesante Quintet has gained respect in the discerning jazz scene due to its quality musicianship, versatility, entertainment value and ability to perform with any outstanding vocal and musical artists from in or out of town.

The current stellar line-up of Scott Lambie, Dean Addison, Joe Ruberto, Jim Glasson and John Montesante, and the diversity of vocal artists performing with the JMQ, gives this band a freshness, versatility and vitality that engages its audience. As well as a variety of jazz gigs, this is illustrated by the JMQ having a quality residency in one venue for over nine years to date - which is a rarity in the modern jazz music scene.

At Dizzy's on Sept 21, the JMQ's special guest singer is sassy, versatile and amazing jazz-soul songstress, May Johnston. An experienced and very fine singer, May recently returned from Glastonbury and St Paul Jazz Festivals, and other dates in Europe.

May is bringing the 'Women of Jazz' with her to Dizzy's. She will be performing tunes from Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan & Etta James, among others. As usual, you are guaranteed a stellar experience with this special artiste, outstanding jazz music, delicious food and drink and excellent company.

Book ahead now to avoid disappointment on 9428 1233. Meals are available prior to the show, from 7pm. Band CDs are available at the gigs.
