The meteoric success of the British pianist Freddy Kempf is no surprise to those who have heard him play. Critics rave about his ‘fearsome technique'… unleashing cascades of notes which left the audience gasping’.
In 1998 Freddy Kempf was the toast of the prestigious Tchaikovsky Piano Competition. His performance was ‘an event of seismic proportions, the piano sounded as if transformed into a giant carillon pealing forth huge, descending clusters of sound’.
Since then, Freddy Kempf has swept the musical world by storm, with rapturous standing ovations and sold-out concerts worldwide. The climax of this demanding program is Mussorgsky’s great Russian masterpiece Pictures at an Exhibition, ‘symphonic in its range of tone and colour, deeply Russian in feeling and wonderfully evocative’.
