London-based Australian pianist Piers Lane grew up in Brisbane and studied at the Queensland Conservatorium with Dr Nancy Weir (a pupil of Schnabel) and then studied overseas with Bela Siki, Yonty Solomon and Jorge Bolet.

Piers Lane’s busy international career sees him performing regularly at the BBC Proms and with many of the world’s leading orchestras and conductors. He is renowned for his recital performances, described by critics as ‘simply spellbinding’ and appears regularly at major music festivals and concert halls worldwide.

Piers Lane’s magnificent recital program takes the audience on a compelling musical journey from Rachmaninov’s sensational Preludes to the fire, romance and beauty of Schubert’s greatest sonata, written during the last months of his life between the Spring and Autumn of 1828.

Piers Lane is Artistic Director of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music and the Myra Hess Day at the National Gallery in London.

Program:
Rachmaninov - Ten Preludes, Op 23
Schubert - Sonata in A major D 959
