The places, products and people that drive and inspire our design and cultural industries will be centre stage at the Open Journal Instagram Exhibition on Thursday 7 November 2013.

Design-focused residential developer, Neometro created Open Journal as a space to share local and international design and urban culture commentary. Based in Melbourne and edited by Matt Hurst, the online publication aims to bring together contributors to discuss design, the arts, ideas and culture in all forms.

Approximately 250 design and architecture photographs from Australia and international locations will be on display at Neometro’s Nine Smith Street gallery space in Fitzroy.

Neometro founder and Open Journal “Instagrammer”, Jeff Provan, says: “Visitors can expect to see design images as well as photographs that represent the human ability to create the undesigned.”

"Instagram for us is about using the iPhone and the spontaneity of capturing things of beauty and considered design - old and the new,” he added.

The exhibition reflects Neometro’s passion for the built form, as well as its participation in and support of design awareness and culture. Open Journal publisher and Neometro director, James Tutton, will speak about the relationship between design, development and art at the exhibition.

Since its launch six months ago, Open Journal has established a loyal fan-base with more than 1,000 Instagram followers. Open Journal’s online success has lead to the launch of a print publication that will be distributed to cafes, bars and restaurants throughout Melbourne from November 2013.

Neometro is committed to a number of social projects designed to give back to communities and use urban land in ways that enrich communities. The Open Journal Instagram Exhibition is just one example of the company’s innovation and passion for urban culture.
