Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival is held annually in the last weekend of May in Exmouth, Western Australia. The festival highlights the community’s relationship with the yearly visitation of the whale shark. The festival caters for all ages and is a fun weekend of entertainment and activities.

The 2013 Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival will be held in Exmouth from May 24 - 26. The event will start with a cocktail party on the Friday evening. Festivities will continue on Saturday at Koobooroo Oval with a fun run, breakfast, activities throughout the day and entertainment which will continue into the evening. Sunday is Family Day at Town Beach with plenty of beach games and night time entertainment. Fire juggling, aerial displays and circus shows are all part of the festival program.

There is the chance to swim with the whale sharks, the biggest fish in the world, by booking with one of the whale shark tour operators (fees apply). Whale shark season is from April – July each year at Ningaloo.

The World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef is a name recognised nationally and internationally as a ‘premier marine environment’, home to the most predictable, seasonal aggregations of whale sharks in the world. This event is supported by Eventscorp, Department of Regional Development and Lands and Royalties for Regions.

The festival's objective is to bring together government departments, business, industries and community members to strengthen their relationships whilst enhancing the education and celebration of the whale shark and its annual visit to Ningaloo.
