The dark beauty of tango, that intoxicating chimera, captured in an evening of sublime revelry.

Three emerging artists are converging in Sydney for a one-off event: Oscuro. Alistair Baillie will launch his debut novel Slander & Doubt. Tángalo, Sydney's Modern Tango quintet, will give exquisite performances. Stunning photography and visual art in an exhibition by Shay Tobin.

Artist interviews are interspersed throughout the night, there will be a world-premiere tango-acrobatics performance, and Sydney tango dancers will dance through the evening to old-time tango tunes.

Dress in your finest and make your way to the beautiful Trackdown studios, in the entertainment quarter. Greeted at the entrance, you’ll wander through our candlelit patio and to ease your way, our hosts will safely store your coats, bags and worries in the cloakroom. As you enter the stunning Simon Leadley room, your ears will be met with the sensuous sounds of the finest tango, from our resident DJ. Para los tangueros, the beautiful sheen of the wooden dance floor will call you;you may wish for nothing more than to dance.

As you acquaint yourself with the pop-up bar, your eyes will be drawn to an exhibition of the artistry of Shay Tobin. There will be opportunities to purchase Alistair Baillie's debut novel, Slander and Doubt, as well as the chance to pre-order a copy of Tángalo's upcoming studio album. In our intimate interview-room you can wander in and learn more about our artists and their work as they’re interviewed by our arts critic.

But perhaps not? The dance-floor will stop only once. During this brief pause, you will witness a world-first performance combining tango-music and acrobatics. The evening will climax with Sydney's exquisite modern tango quintet Tángalo in live performance.

An event unlike any other, Oscuro weaves music and magic, tango and text, art and ambiguity, in an evening of the finest revelry.

As a special deal, Oscuro guests will only have to pay a flat fee of $6 for parking on the night.
