The powerful young all-female Euthalia Ensemble bring to life the story of the Amazon Queen Penthesilea in a widely accessible and intruiging style.

Combining physical theatre, poetic language and original design, the group have all had an equal part in creating this beautiful piece of theatre which explores themes of pressure, dominance, and womanhood.

The piece follows the Queen’s struggle between duty and love – she is the leader of her people and champion of their culture – but when you have made a pact to live without love, what happens when Cupid’s arrow strikes you down?

Euthalia ensemble takes you on a journey through epic battles, passion where it cannot exist, and the struggle of responsibility.
With strong roots in physical theatre, the ensemble redevelops classic texts using a heightened style combined with a refreshing and clear form, making it accessible to a contemporary audience.

Led by their director Russya Connor the Euthalia Ensemble devise all their work collaboratively and with their passion and love for theatre, aim to reinspire audiences. 'Euthalia' meaning 'blooming' and as such their collective appetite for beautiful and thoughtful art drives them to flourish, utilising all members’ many varied talents to their full potential.
