Pink Dove III: The Bird Fire Review sees Brisbane’s Bird Fire Artists family reveal all in a 5 hour long epic of delicious musical incest (think Paul Robinson in late 80’s Neighbours when he accidentally makes out with both of the Alessi twins). A mere 12 members combine in various incarnations to deliver a non-stop show featuring Bird Fire artists – Laneous & The Family Yah (with the return of the Bird Fire Choir!), Georgia Potter, MKO, Superfeather, The Well Alrights and The Melotonins.

Bird Fire Artists is a label / management company founded in 2008 by Jo Diddley, synonymous in Brisbane for its work with the underground, cutting-edge and truly bizarre. As Pink Dove III curator he reflects on the previous Brisbane events: "Pink Dove’s I & II were both about L&TFY putting on events on our own turf and by our own terms. They were about throwing the craziest party we could with all of our favourite bands on the bill”. He warns for this installment: “We’re basically taking the Bird Fire community come cult come circus come incestuous freak fest on the road to celebrate our funny little world. Literally 12 people, combining to deliver 6+ projects in a non-stop soul review style formula. It’s gonna be WILD."

After 5 years, a staggering 9 releases all to massive critical acclaim and hundreds of shows from Big Day Out to backyards, Brisbane’s beloved rat bags of Mutant Soul and Croon Punk, Laneous & The Family Yah spent 2012 in hiatus with members scattered around the globe and focusing on various projects ranging from punk bands to chamber string compositions, art exhibitions to comedy sketch shows.

Pink Dove III sees them together again for the first time in 12 months to deliver a mix of new material and re-imaginings of music from their entire catalogue. Having penciled in a formula with the hugely successful sell out warehouse events Pink Dove I and II, Laneous & The Family Yah have this time assembled a line up from their own ranks and are bringing out the felt pens as they continue to grow their reputation as an act who are unafraid to colour outside of the lines.

Joining Laneous and The Family Yah for the Bird Fire Review are:

Georgia Potter : Former Bird Fire Choir member and long time Laneous collaborator, Georgia Potter’s return from the Northern hemisphere has been long anticipated in the Bird Fire camp. Arriving home with a vastly new sound, Pink Dove III will be a celebration of her new single “Reckless” due out March 8. This pint sized chanteuse is punching a darker, beats driven sound with a definite RnB factor and will be joined for these fresh live sets by members of the Family Yah.

MKO: A proud new addition to the Bird Fire family, MKO’s colourful brand of street-chic soul, electro quirk and future pop combines the experimentation of Dirty Projectors and the attitude of TLC. At Pink Dove III MKO will release the “Lily Lotus Orchid Sunflower” EP, produced by the Family Yah’s own Peet G.

Superfeather: Like a hypercolour t-shirt flapping on the hills hoist in front of a Qld sunset in storm season, SuperFeather are intensely colourful. Next level harmony and polyrhythm that’ll make you shit your pants, the rest of the acts will have their work cut out to follow this. They’re launching their Debut EP at Pink Dove III. Arrive early!

The Well Alrights: Without question Bird Fire’s coolest band, the identical triplets of the Alright family (Izzy, Shelby and Alby) make dumb rock’n’roll, shit punk ditties, bush ballads and sex raps for dance floor shakin and riot makin. They make support slots feel like after parties. Don’t miss ‘em.

The Melotonins: Hobo chic barbershop trio The Melotonins make vocal harmonies to fall in and out of love to. They’ll be greasin’ the wheels of Pink Dove III with performances throughout the night.
