The headline of the day over a photo of HMAS Australia was: “What we have we hold! “This talk will explore the reasons why Australia was determined to control a credible navy with a battle cruiser as its flagship.
About the speaker: Lieutenant Commander Desmond Woods, RAN, has served since 1974 in the RNZN, the RN, the British Army and the RAN as a specialist in International Relations, War Studies and Military and Naval History. He is currently on the staff of the International Fleet Review planning team preparing for the centennial celebrations during and after the Fleet entry commencing on 4 October 2013.
