SHAUN KIRK – The ‘Giving EP’ Australian Release Tour
Still riding the high from performing at renowned Australian music festivals including Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival and St Kilda Festival in the past 12 months, alongside heavyweights such as Robert Plant, Ben Harper, Bonnie Raitt and The Cat Empire, blues multi-instrumentalist Shaun Kirk continues his musical ascent with the release of his brand new EP, ‘Giving’.
The five-track offering features two new songs from his forthcoming full-length album, ‘Steer the Wheel’ (due for release March 2014). The first of these, ‘Give to the Needy’, is available on iTunes in October. Three live tracks are also included on the EP, two of which were captured during his acclaimed performance at this years’ Bluesfest. To celebrate the release, Shaun will embark on a comprehensive national tour before heading back into the studio to conclude recording the album.
Shaun’s blend of blues and soul is a testament to his wide range of influences as well as his unwavering dedication to his craft. The result is an electrifying live experience, displaying Shaun’s unique set-up of guitars, harmonicas and pedals. Sam Fell (Rhythms Magazine) comments, "Shaun Kirk has taken to the guitar like the proverbial duck to water, add to that a howling vocal, rock-solid harmonica and a variety of foot-operated percussion, it’s a mind-bending combination he makes look easy."
Shaun’s songwriting continues to evolve, from both an energetic musical perspective, and as the EP title suggests, from an ethical standpoint. As a result, he’ll be donating 10% of all EP sales profits to Orphfund, a volunteer based organization helping abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable children around the world, regardless of race or religion.
