On Friday 6 December. STARTTS (NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors) will celebrate 25 years of helping thousands of refugees recover from the deprivation and suffering that they have been forced to endure prior to arriving in Australia.
Her Excellency Professor Marie R Bashir AC CVO, who was chair of the initial STARTTS management committee, will be the honorary guest speaker at the celebrations in Fairfield which will bring together 1000 past and present clients, refugee communities, staff, politicians, supporters and partner organisations.
There will be entertainment by refugee groups and light refreshments will be provided. We encourage you to wear traditional dress.
STARTTS have gained an international reputation for their innovative and highly successful approaches to helping people recover from the torture and trauma that they have been subject to prior to coming to Australia.
