Stone Music Festival will be an epic once-in-a-lifetime Aussie celebration and the only place fans will get to see these international headliners in Australia this year!

Billy Joel (Sunday 21 April) and Van Halen (Saturday, 20 April) have been confirmed to headline the inaugural Stone Music Festival to be held over two days at Sydney's ANZ Stadium.

Stone Music Festival will be an epic once-in-a-lifetime Aussie celebration and the only place fans will get to see these international headliners in Australia this year!

Supporting these global superstars on the Festival bill will be a massive array of legendary international and Australian rock acts that amongst them have accumulated a plethora of album sales and awards, and plenty of smash hit singles for festival goers to belt out at the top of their voices. The line-up at Stone Music Festival really is like no other!

Stone Music Festival takes its name and its attitude from the iconic 1974 Ozploitation biker flick, Stone.

The film is a cult classic and the timing of the Festival serves as a timely reminder of our fallen veterans in the lead up to ANZAC Day. Stone Music Festival will pay homage to our fallen heroes by celebrating mateship, brotherhood and all things that make this country great while creating a brand new Aussie ANZAC tradition.

With a new contemporary motion picture production of Stone already in development, we’ll be giving Festival goers the chance to see where it all began with a special 2013 Director’s Cut screening of the original cult classic film each day

Singer, songwriter and composer Billy Joel ranks as one of the most popular recording artists and respected entertainers in the world with a career spanning more than 40 years. The music legend has had 33 Top 40 hits and sold more than 150 million records worldwide. A six-time Grammy Award winner and 23-time Grammy nominee, Joel received the Recording Industry Association of America Diamond Award, presented for albums that have sold over 10 million copies. The enigmatic native New Yorker was also an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. No Stranger to our shores, last visiting in 2006, the beloved American entertainer is one of the biggest touring artists in the world. Sunday, 21 April will be a night to remember with an extraordinary one-off exclusive performance by Billy Joel for the Stone Music Festival.

Van Halen has not toured Australia since 1998. Reunited with charismatic front man David Lee Roth, a global smash hit recent album, A Different Kind Of Truth, their first in 12 years; Top 5 in the ARIA charts in 2012, Van Halen are back armed with all their hits and this one-off exclusive show will be the first time the line-up of David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, & Wolfgang Van Halen have graced our shores. So get ready for a rock assault on Sydney, Saturday night 20 April that will shake the very foundations of ANZ Stadium! Best known for their hits including Jump, Panama and Hot for Teacher, with their latest She’s the Woman, you won't want to miss this iconic American rock band in all their explosive, electrifying, guitar-shredding Van Halen glory.

Other performers on the two day line-up include Buckcherry, Richie Ramone, Lifehouse, rock supergroup Kings of Chaos including members of legendary band Guns N’ Roses plus many iconic special guest performers, with combined album sales of over 300 million worldwide, Illumination Road and many more to be announced providing hours of entertainment not to be missed. Stone Music Festival offers full submersion in an epic, sense assaulting, fist pumping, jam packed celebration of rock music and the greatest country and countrymen in the world!

This is not just a rock gig; this is a total event, unique, like no other!

Aerosmith added to Stone Music Festival

04 April 2013

by Poppy Reid

The Inaugural Stone Music festival just doubled in size and eyes have opened wider than Steve Tyler’s jaw circumference with the announcement that Aerosmith have joined the bill.

The Massachusetts rock and roll band, who will be in the country this month have cancelled their Sydney show at ANZ Stadium April 28, and instead will join the Stone Music Festival bill.

Ticketek issued the following: “Stone Festival will be Aerosmith’s only Sydney performance and Van Halen’s only Australian performance. Both bands will perform full, greatest hits sets.

“This will mean the original Aerosmith concert date on Sunday 28 April, 2013 will no longer take place with all ticket holders receiving equivalent ticket allocation for the Stone Music Festival on Saturday 20 April, 2013”

The Grammy winning band will join fellow special guest and rock heavyweight Jimmy Barnes as well as headliners Van Halen and Billy Joel.
