After a massive couple of years of performing around New Zealand, Wellington bands Sunken Seas and The Shocking and Stunning are finally crossing the ditch, performing in Australia in late February and early March.

After a breakthrough year in 2012, earning critical plaudits and chart success on radio stations up and down New Zealand, Wellington’s atmospheric space-rock trio Sunken Seas finally make their long awaited trek to Australia throughout February and March – in association with MUZAI Records and Tenzenmen. Sunken Seas kicked off 2013 in style, performing at NZ music festival Chronophonium in January and continuing to perform on grander stages in the lead up to their trip over the ditch, no doubt stunning Australian audiences with their razor-sharp sonic precision and unparalleled (by New Zealand standards) stage show.

Described by VanguardRed Magazine as “blurry, emotive, physically propulsive and above all, f^&ing epic”, The Shocking and Stunning’s ability to create dense, trance-inducing music using synths, a sampler and a live drummer has seen them have a massive year in 2012, including two New Zealand tours, performances at Camp A Low Hum and Rhythm and Alps, an EP, a documentary score, and a single which topped a number of indie stations.

Both bands will be joined on by tour DJ Lotion. DJ Lotion is the current host/producer of ‘Over The Ditch’ on Melbourne’s 3RRR and formerly On-Air producer/Radio host on Wellington’s Radio Active 88.6FM. He currently resides at Strange Wolf, Black Cat and E Fifty Five (E55) and has shared the stage with the likes of Animal Collective, Peaches, The Kills and Girl Talk – to name, literally, a mere few.
