Stage Artz Theatre Company's 2009 season of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at the Zenith Theatre in Chatswood was a hit. It included a "cream of the crop" cast, and was hailed as "brilliantly executed" and "a perfect production". Due to popular demand, Stage Artz is proud to announce that in 2013, the Bee is back!

Set in the Putnam Valley Middle School, 6 quirky young people in the throes of puberty compete against each other for the coveted title of Putnam County Spelling Champion. Watched over by 3 equally quirky adults, the result is an hilarious, fast-paced, dog-eat-dog, bizarre, and slightly disturbing insight into the world of junior school competitive spelling. As well as our 6 spellers, members of the audience are encouraged to participate in the Spelling Bee, making each performance just as unique, and as hilarious, as the one before it!

In addition to the regular performances (which, due to some mature themes, are recommended for 13yrs and over), this time around Stage Artz Theatre Company is holding two specially tailored performances: a “Kid-Friendly” matinee performance (Saturday 23rd, 2pm), and a late night “Adults Only” performance (Friday 22nd, 10pm – for 18yrs and over).

Audience members wishing to be involved in the show as “Audience Volunteer Spellers” should arrive 45 minutes prior to performance time to apply.
