Lance Ferguson and his nine piece Melbourne outfit The Bamboos have come a long way since forming in 2001. With their fifth album Medicine Man now out, they have unveiled another revelatory record brimming with fresh ideas.

The Bamboos energetic live shows draw the links between hip hop, soul, funk, old-school breaks, and increasingly a more guitar-heavy rock, pop and psych sound. The unshakeable charm of their songs has seen them licensed to hit movies including Crazy Stupid Love, and TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty and Underbelly.

The Bamboos have also collaborated with the likes of Aloe Blacc, Megan Washington, Daniel Merriweather, Bobby Flynn and Tim Rogers. Their 2012 single I Got Burned with Tim Rogers was voted in at number 54 in triple j’s Hottest 100.

Catch them at Bond University’s ADCO Amphitheatre for their only free Queensland performance before they play at Byron Bay’s Bluesfest.
