BEST PRODUCTION FOR CHILDREN, SYDNEY THEATRE AWARD (2010)

‘It’s not quite right to say it’s the best children’s show in town, it’s one of the best shows, period. Warm, witty, wise and wonderful.’ - New York Post
‘One of the most delightful family productions I have seen for many years.’ - The Australian
‘Brilliantly executed. Absolutely engrossing.’ - The Daily Telegraph

Few Australian productions take New York by storm, and fewer are created especially for young people. The Book of Everything has changed all that.

It is 1951 and nine year-old Thomas can see things no one else can: tropical fish thriving in the Amsterdam canals, a hailstorm of frogs and even Jesus himself (who turns out to enjoy a good old chinwag). He also sees the unhappiness of his family, and the violence in his father fuelled by the pain that lingers long after the war. All this – good and bad – he carefully records in his magical and hopeful Book of Everything.

Funny and touching, The Book of Everything is MTC’s Christmas treat for you and your family. Playwright Richard Tulloch and director Neil Armfield – along with designer Kim Carpenter – have turned a classic children’s story into an enchanting play for all ages.
