The Song Company is bringing their extraordinary vocal ensemble performance to Riverside Theatres for one performance on Monday 8 April.

The Song Company remains at the forefront of contemporary vocal music through an extensive and ongoing international commissioning program of new collaborative works. This year, together with oud virtuoso Joseph Towadros, they bring us beautiful voices influenced by Eastern and Western traditions and guided by Kahlil Gibran’s much-loved book, The Prophet. Under the leadership of Roland Peelman, the six-voice ensemble explores the themes of love, pain, work, reason and passion, children and friendship.

Joseph Tawadros has risen to prominence in Australia by successfully developing the ancient traditions of Arabic music in a western environment. His engagement with the writings of Gibran has resulted in one solo disc for oud (The Prophet, 2009), as well as a number of works recorded for ‘Concerto of The Greater Sea’, recently released to great acclaim. This new collaboration with the singers of The Song Company delves into the origins of musical expression, guided by the writings of Gibran.
