STRUT is proud to present the WA premiere of Virtuosi – Sue Healey’s groundbreaking and inspirational feature-length documentary – during two screenings on Saturday 9 November.

Virtuosi is an intimate video portrait of eight New Zealand dance artists and their pursuit of artistic careers in Berlin, London, New York, Sydney, Melbourne, Townsville, and Brussels. Virtuosi is about the drive to be an artist – “a film for everyone'', says Healey. Virtuosi has been screened at film festivals around the world, notably Canada, America, Australia and New Zealand.

Sue will also be on hand as our special guest, to introduce and lead exclusive Q&A sessions after each screening.

Healey is an independent artist with an ongoing commitment to dance film. Her body of work transcends the mediums of dance, visual art and film and explores the universality and power of movement and the particular virtuosity of dance. She received the prestigious Outstanding Achievement in Dance on Film or New Media award for Virtuosi during this year’s Australian Dance Awards in Canberra.

Sue Healey is one of five NSW artists supported by the Managing and Producing Services (MAPS) NSW initiative, supported by Performing Lines, the Australia Council for the Arts and Arts NSW.
