A sentimental concert of 20 unforgettable 1930s tangos, foxtrots and waltzes by the IRVING BERLINS and COLE PORTERS of pre-war Poland
performed by
ADRIA NOSTALGIA
with vocal soloists
ADAM WASIEL & MAYA KEDZIORA
In this concert, Adria Nostalgia consists of seven Sydney musicians including three violins, accordion, cello, guitar/banjo, percussion (castanets & cymbals) and double bass who aim to take audiences back to the elegant 1930s with authentic performances of sentimental tangos, cheeky foxtrots and nostalgic waltzes.
The name stems from the original Warsaw nightclub “Adria” which opened in 1929 on Moniuszko street and was frequented by the crème de la crème of pre-war Polish society that socialised and danced to music performed by famous cabaret and film stars.
For those who love 1930s American hits this concert should prove a delight. Included will be the tangos: ‘Carmencita’, ‘Your lips lie’,
‘Where’s your heart?’, ‘Angelita’,
‘Let’s dance a tango!’, foxtrots:
‘What’s the world worth without love?’,
‘If only I had four legs’, ‘That girl’s tipsy!’
and waltzes:
‘The whole world dances the waltz’ and
‘Being young is all that matters’.
