Original world music, explosive beats, mystifying sounds... Ziggi and the New Generation spans African, Latin and Middle Eastern rhythms and fuses elements of reggae, funk, rap and jazz. The African influence is primarily from the groovy M'balah rhythms, contemporary rhythms unique to Senegal. The group is led by Ziggi Mabeye Diagne, master of the sabar drums, the tama (talking drum), and a gifted singer and kora (African harp) player, who brings all his musical experience from Senegal, West Africa, and combines his talents with some of WA's best musicians.

Born in Senegal into a family of musicians, Ziggi Mabeye Diagne grew up learning and playing music and songs that are his family's heritage – the knowledge having been passed down in the griot tradition, from generation to generation. Ziggi toured internationally for a decade as a percussionist, dancer, and choreographer for Baaba Maal and the Dande Lenol Orchestra.
