Air Force Band is proud to present “Firebird”, the third and final concert at the Iwaki Auditorium dedicated to celebrating the centenary of military aviation in Australia.
On 1 March 1914, one hundred years ago, the first military flight in Australia took place at Point Cook, the oldest continually operating military airfield in the world. Opening with Ron Goodwin’s music from the film “633 Squadron”, “Firebird” will continue to celebrate both the centenary of this momentous event and the significant advances in air and space power over the past 100 years. Stravinsky’s spectacular masterpiece “The Firebird Suite” will conclude the concert, showcasing the precision, agility and excellence of your Air Force Band.
Program:
633 Squadron – Ron Goodwin
