For 500 years Cuba has been the great melting pot of the Caribbean, the place where Spain meets Africa. Once the focal point of trade routes to the New World, then the centre of the American sugar industry, it has a national identity forged in music, poetry, dance and art. Its great national hero, overshadowing even Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, remains the 19th-century writer-warrior Jose Martí.

Judith White, former executive director of the Art Gallery Society of NSW and author of the Society’s history Art lovers, will lead the Gallery’s first tour to Cuba in 2015 and introduce you to the country’s fascinating culture and revolutionary history.

10am Coffee, Domain Theatre foyer
