A Chilean, A Butcher, A Vanilla Gorilla and A Seedy Dude w/ a jellyfish hairdo, walk into a bar... Chances are, that it's Bootleg Rascal.
Bootleg came into their steez at a particularly sticky Sydney gig. In fact, it was only 8 months ago that these Rascals met and fell into their musical bro-lationship. Now after 9 months of jamming and touring, Bootleg Rascal has popped out this cheeky little mutant single. A real Sat night/Sunday Morn track.
Bootleg Rascal have just finished up supporting Sticky Fingers on the Gold Snafu single tour around Australia last month and have been at it in the studio - squirrelled away writing in the Rascal den, well into the hair in one of Sydney's armpits. These fine young gents pump out what only Bootleg Rascal can, with their musical dynamic and their unique creative "charms". Kings & Queens is the first single to come from the recent sessions. A post disco 70's disease style infectious grab that manages to hoist it's grab bag of influences high. A hooky disco beat, sick riff and old mate's sexy vocals, you'll be chanting hours after it's first been waved under your nose, and what's more, you'll have forgotten where you sniffed it up from.
We think a good reference might look like this: Broken Bells, The Police and Bryan Ferry
Accompanying the track will be a video clip, which incorporates a Chicken, a Treasure Map, and the likely lads in Mexican Mariachi outfits. It actually sums up the Bootleg Rascal lifestyle pretty well. Do we have a shovel, a map, some Mariachi outfits and a tawdry treasure chest ? Tick … right, lets go.
