Hear from one of the foremost experts in Open Innovation, Nick Skytland, as he discusses how we can harness mass collaboration and emerging technology to change the world.

Using open innovation to generate new ideas is not a new concept. Nor is solving a problem by harnessing the collective.

What is new are the innovation ecosystems created by advancements in technology, open-source software and open data that enable mass collaboration on a massive scale to solve a problem or generate a new idea.

At this 2 hour public event hosted by DiUS, you will hear about the evolution of open innovation and mass collaboration, the rise of participatory democracy, and Nick’s experiences from his time leading NASA’s Open Innovation Programme and how he set up and ran two of the largest mass collaborations in history - the International Space Apps Challenge and the National Day of Civic Hacking. Nick will also share his experiences from Random Hacks of Kindness - the rapidly growing global community initiative involving more than 6,000 innovators in more than 35 countries.

You will also get the chance to meet other like-minded people and find out why and how you can get involved with Australian initiatives.

"We truly live in a world today where the possibilities are limited only by our imagination and our will to act and there is no better time than now to get started.” - Nick Skytland
