Queensland Conservatorium’s Ensemble in Residence, Collusion Music with guest soprano Tanya Cooling will perform world premieres by composer in residence Susan Hawkins and Australia’s Philip Eames.

Ward of State is a dance film set in the 1930’s – 1940 about a young girl who was taken from her parents and put into care as a “ward of the state”. Following the life of the girl as she moves in and out of convents and foster care over the course of a few years. Collusion will record the soundtrack for this film in 2014. On this occasion the showing of the film will be accompanied by live musical performance.

I Saw A Peacock With A Fiery Tail
Benjamin Greaves has commissioned this new work for violin, cello, clarinet, piano and soprano by Collusion Music’s Composer in Residence Susan Hawkins. It explores the appeal of Klezmer improvisation and rhapsody.

New String Quartet
Philip Eames new string quartet will also be given its world premiere performance.
