Cervantes Kids will be launching on ¨el día e¨ on the 21st of June at the Instituto Cervantes. Día e aims to raise the visibility of the Spanish language in the World and celebrate the Spanish language as a language of high international acclaim. Instituto Cervantes Sydney will celebrate this day with a cultural program full of activities for everyone and will launch Cervantes Kids initiative with a number of free activities previewing Spanish for kids and play in Spanish activities. El On el día e there will be the draw for the competition ¨My favorite word in Spanish¨ for a trip to Spain through emirates.

•12:00-12:30 Spanish for Kids (Classroom 6 - Level 3). Bring your children and see how easy and fun it is for them to learn Spanish through playful activities, songs and storytelling. Registration.

Pre-school [3-5 yo]

•11:30-12:00 Pre-school (Classroom 5 - Level 3). We invite 8 children accompanied by an adult to play in Spanish. We will have fun in Spanish. Registration.
School [6-12 yo]

•11:30-12:00 Chair and mime games (Auditorium – Level 1). Children will be walking in circles around the chairs while they hear a Spanish song. When the song stops, the kids will have to sit in a chair but there will be fewer chairs than children, so one kid will be ruled out. The mime game will divide the class in teams each team will have a number of cards with the name of an animal, object, etc. Each member will have to explain with mime to his/her team what is in the card. Children will learn a song in Spanish and a collaborative work. Registration.

•12:00-12:30 Puppet Show (Auditorium - Level 1). Children will create their own puppets with socks, cardboard and buttons and practise what they have learned. Students will learn to introduce themselves, ask for a person’s name and be able to answer basic personal questions. They will copy expressions and intonation of phrases. Children will develop communication skills; they will be encouraged to start talking in Spanish. And it will develop their imagination. Registration.

•12:30-13:00 Arts & Food (Auditorium - Level 1). Children will take a look at the map and learn which countries Spanish is spoken and what food you might eat in Spain. Then will design their own restaurant signs and menu of the day or your own typical Spanish restaurant. Children act out short scenes in their own group using as much Spanish as they can and practice ordering Spanish food and drink using Spanish words. Children will then be asked to act out scenarios where something goes wrong in the restaurant and take turns performing it to the class. They will also be colouring and discovering the food in the Hispanic world. Registration.

•12:30-13:00 Create with Paper (Classroom 2 - Level 3). Children will be guided to use their creativity and imagination to create their own objects through the use of paper folding in order to create the Spanish instrument and fashion compliment ¨abanico¨, which serves as a way to keep cool. They will also learn a number of Spanish during the creative activity. Registration.

•12:30-13:00 Mafalda (Classroom 6 - Level 3). Initial game students are introduced to Mafalda´s characters. Then the students will introduce themselves. Students will play a swatter game to learn about instruments and create their own maracas with plastic bottles and legumes. With Mafalda´s cartoons, pencils and crayons, the kids will be given the task of designing the vinyl cover of Mafalda´s soundtrack. Registration.
