The volume’s going to be turned right up on Newcastle’s after-hours music scene with the launch of District Bar & Club this Saturday, 12 April.

A DJ set from Canyons (Modular Recordings), the musical stylings of Leo Thomson and Ryan Grieve, will christen the club at this weekend’s launch, happening from 9pm to 3am.

“They are two amazingly talented musicians,” said Phil. “They know how to put on a performance and show you a good time – an ideal duo for District’s opening night.” Other artists making an appearance on the night include local DJs Jun Wan, Girl Friday and Hugo.

The latest addition to the new-look CBD Hotel on Hunter Street, the designer venue is set to be a sophisticated experience for the discerning clubber and music lover. Phil Smart, internationally-renowned DJ and head of entertainment at the venue, says District fills a huge gap in Newcastle’s night-life scene and will play host to a broad range of musical styles.

“District is taking a fresh approach to after-hours entertainment in the city – we’ll be hosting a diverse lineup of local and select guest DJs and artists for everyone’s listening and dancing pleasure,” he said. “We want to bring the very best from around the country to District to entertain and also educate people about the different sounds that are out there.”
