Did you know we need bees to pollinate over 30% of the food we eat? If we lose bees we lose mangoes, strawberries, nectarines, tomatoes, celery, macadamias, brazil nuts, almonds, cherries, pears, lemons, vanilla, broccoli, cauliflower and eggplant - just to name a few! And our bees are in serious danger from pesticides and urban sprawl.

We are very excited to have Paul Wood from Brisbane Backyard Bees as our special guest speaker. Paul is a passionate beekeeper and can't wait to tell you all about these fascinating creatures. In this interactive workshop you will find out what is happening to the bees and why, learn practical and simple things YOU can do to help, learn how a bee colony works (absolutely fascinating!) and see how you can start your own backyard bee hive and harvest your own delicious honey.

You'll also get to taste-test honey from native stingless bees and european bees
get your own small jar of delicious local honey to take home with you!

If you eat fruit, vegetables, nuts or seeds (and I hope you do!) - this workshop is for you! Even if you don't have the space to keep bees yourself or you're allergic to them, there is still so much you can do to help these incredibly important creatures survive. Come along for a fun night out and learn how.
