The exhibition “Empty Rooms” is a celebration of the lives and the dreams of two artists Elizabeth Blackwell and Carey Nevard who have come together after a 20 year separation.

The exhibition will be a combination of photography, mixed media and painting. For Carey his canvases often portray the isolation he identifies with as life as an artist, the wide open spaces that surround his current landscape have created works which are particularly poignant. His cross cultural experiences have seen him living in England as well as owning a gallery co-op in New Zealand. For Elizabeth many years travelling particularly in the Middle East saw her document the lives of those she came across. Owning an import business saw her create a body of work that portrays a sensitivity to her subject that only comes with knowing a country well. She sees herself as a storyteller of life and her work spans many continents, the mix includes traditional Vietnamese portraits to Moroccan street scenes and still life. She has more recently been documenting life through a different eye and has captured the spontaneity of everyday life.

The exhibition will prove to be an exciting mix of styles and mediums and should provoke thought and discussion in the viewer. It will document their journey past and present and also represent the journey they will now be taking together in the future.
