A tribute to the Queen of Comedy

Everybody Loves Lucy, performed by Elise McCann will play Hayes Theatre Co as part of the Cabaret Season 2014 from June 4 – June 6 2014.

Lucille Ball was the Queen of American comedy for decades. After years paying her dues in B-movies, she won the public’s hearts and reigned supreme as television’s biggest star in I Love Lucy - the most popular sitcom in American history.

Starring Musical Theatre’s Elise McCann, has wowed the stage in Mamma Mia and South Pacific, and now presents a tribute to a true trail-blazer.

As she conquered the entertainment industry, Lucy was joined every step of the way by her real-life and on-screen husband Desi Arnaz. As the first couple of television comedy, Lucy and Desi held up a fun-house mirror to every marriage in America exaggerating and making amusing every idiosyncrasy of married life. But as Lucy’s popularity and relationship with the public thrived, her relationship with Desi suffered both professionally and privately.

Her own marriage may have fallen by the wayside, but in doing so, she was credited with saving the marriages of millions of Americans. Brimming with Lucille Ball’s irrepressible spirit, McCann tells the tale of this Queen of Comedy.

Featuring the hit songs Be a Clown, You’re So Right For Me, Make Someone Happy, We’re Having a Baby, You Don’t Have To Know The Language, Give It All You Got and Lose That Long Face.

“I am so excited to be able to do this show! It really challenges the typical dynamic of a cabaret and takes the audience into the dramatic and hilarious world of the 1950's and I Love Lucy. It's bold and funny and exciting- and reminds us all that laughter and honesty is the key to success in life,” said Elise McCann.
