Food, the delicious play by theatrical marvel Steve Rodgers, comes to Mandurah Performing Arts Centre in October following sell-out seasons in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Elma (Mel King) and Nancy (Emma Jackson) are sisters. Nancy left their remote, truck stop home many years ago Elma stayed. Nancy chose chaos, freedom and sex Elma stayed behind and cooked. Now Nancy has returned and their lives are disrupted by the arrival of Hakan Leventoglu (Fayssal Bazzi) 'Hassan, son of Handsom', a restless Turkish traveller.

A co-production between Force Majeure and Belvoir, Food combines elements of drama, comedy, dance and cookery in an erotic mix of words and movement. Rodgers, the playwright and co-director, said that food and sensuality were both central themes in the play, which draws closely on his own personal experiences and observations. "Food, as the title suggests, is a play about food and cooking. But it's also very much about sex, and how our relationship with both can define us'" Mr Rodgers said. Rodgers co-directed Food with acclaimed choreographer Kate Champion, Artistic Director of Force Majeure. Together Rogers and Champion have crafted a communion between the audience and the characters as they come together around the dining table.

A play called Food would not be complete without the real thing. At each performance selected members of the audience will be served supper.
