Garden City Shopping Centre is excited to welcome back Jeans for a Cause this May in conjunction with Anglicare WA.

Customers who donate their pre-loved jeans at the denim recycle point in the Central Fashion Mall between May 26 and June 1 will be rewarded with a $10 Garden City gift card to put towards a new pair of jeans.

The recycle point will be available to customers daily from 10am to 4pm, Thursday 10am to 7pm and Sunday from 11am to 3pm.

To further assist the week of denim donations, in-house stylist Julie Noble will be on hand at the recycle station to guide customers and help them select their perfect pair of jeans.

On Sunday June 1, customers will have the opportunity to turn their shabby into chic with the first ever Jeans Swapmart. The event will contain the best items from the prior week’s donations proving that one shopper’s trash is another’s treasure.

At the Swapmart, customers can either donate their jeans (for a $10 gift card) or swap their jeans for a pair of already donated jeans plus a monetary donation of their choosing (i.e. gold coin). Alternatively, customers can purchase an item from the Jeans Swapmart for just $10.

Garden City Shopping Centre is also encouraging customers to share the story behind their favourite pair of jeans between May 26 and June 15. Customers can submit their story at gardencity.com.au, with one lucky winner to take away a $1,000 G-Star RAW voucher.

Garden City Marketing Manager, Clare Riley said, “I think we have all been in a position where we want to hang on to that favourite item of clothing even though it’s time to move on. Jeans are a staple in just about everyone’s wardrobe because it’s easy to become attached to something that provides comfort and familiarity.

“The Jeans for a Cause event is unique because it allows shoppers to swap their pre-loved items as opposed to throw them away, plus they can pick up a vintage bargain and benefit a charitable cause in the process, allowing everyone to take something away from the event” She added.

Anglicare WA is a not-for-profit community service organisation. The jeans donated at Garden City will be recycled through Anglicare op shops throughout Perth.
