The Soul sensation Grand WaZoo combined with the big voice of Jeff Duff will bring back the thrill of the 60s 'n 70s right at the Caravan Club.

If you didn’t know that vocalist-entertainer Jeff Duff and Grand WaZoo band leader-trumpet- arranger, John Montesante (formerly known as John Santos) were original founding members of 70′s jazz-rock-fusion band, Kush, you may wonder why they are appearing together on a double bill.

In the Kush years, they gigged, toured, appeared on TV shows, at Sunbury, recorded the Snow White album and had a hit with Easy Street. In the decades since, they remained friends as Jeff Duff took on the world of song, creating shows and bands and recording his 28th album this year. Jeff remains a unique, lithe, eccentric and outrageously talented singer and showman.

After Kush, John freelanced with other bands and artists, before returning to his jazz roots, then introducing Afro-American Soul Music to Australia in 1981, with his legendary 13 piece Grand WaZoo – now celebrating 33 years of ongoing performance. On Jeff’s rare visits to Melbourne, they link up, and Jeff will appear with Grand WaZoo again at The Caravan Club on July 26.

The stellar double-bill will start with a Grand WaZoo – Kings of Soul set, then there will be a set of Jeff Duff, backed by the band, as he performs his favourite tunes, including Easy Street, Macarthur Park, BS & T repertoire, like Spinning Wheel & Lucretia McEvil, and many others.

Step back in time to the 1960s and1970s, when soul, glam rock and R+B music thrilled audiences across the globe – and who better to capture that epoch than the combined talents of singer extraordinaire, Jeff Duff, with Oz soul legends, Grand WaZoo.

This is rare musical entertainment at its best. So book early to avoid disappointment!
