Grammy nominated Melbourne contemporary soul outfit, Hiatus Kaiyote, will play a farewell residency at Melbourne’s Howler this May, before embarking on a world tour and releasing their much anticipated sophomore album.

Signed to Salaam Remi’s Sony imprint, Flying Buddha, the past 12 months has seen the band on a rapid trajectory from share-house studios to sell-out international shows, following the release of their debut self-produced album Tawk Tomahawk.

Taking out a swag of awards in 2013 including ‘Best Breakthrough Artist’ at Giles Peterson's Worldwide Awards and The Age Music Victoria’s ‘Best Emerging Artist’, as well as receiving nods from soul royalty (Prince, Pharrell Williams, Erykah Badu, Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson, Common, DJ Jazzy Jeff), the group has also gone on to make history this year for their Grammys nomination.

Nominated for ‘Best R&B Performance’ in acknowledgement of their compelling collaboration with A Tribe Called Quest legend Q-Tip on a new version of “Nakamarra", the band wrote themselves into the history books as the first Australian act to be nominated for any R&B category at the Grammys.

With their sound referencing a swathe of influences - electric, acoustic, futuristic, psychedelic and progressive, the band defies definition and demands distinction.

Playing Melbourne’s Howler every Wednesday in May, don’t miss your last chance to see this award-winning act on Aussie soil before they make international tracks.

Hiatus Kaiyote will be joined by special guests, Ainslie Wills.
