Jazzman extraodinaire, James Morrison will share the stage with the Australian Youth Orchestra for the first time in one special concert. Conductor, James Judd will bridge the divide between the two great art forms of classical and jazz for the AYO February Season in Adelaide.

Morrison is one of Australia’s foremost jazz artists and has performed with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillespie, Whitney Houston and Ray Charles. Classical and jazz audiences alike are set to be delighted when Morrison performs Graeme Koehne’s High Art with the AYO for the first time. The Season’s repertoire will also include Smetana’s My Fatherland: The Moldau and Mussorgsky (orch. Ravel) Pictures at an Exhibition.

For musicians of the AYO, this is not just a chance to perform in the historic Adelaide Town Hall; it’s an opportunity to learn from luminary conductor James Judd and the inimitable musicianship of Morrison at a formative moment in their musical careers.

“We are thrilled to be sharing the stage with the renowned trumpet soloist James Morrison,” said Colin Cornish, CEO Australian Youth Orchestra. “James Judd’s arrangements, combined with the Morrison’s brilliant talent and the AYO’s dynamic energy, will no doubt result in a magical evening of music.”

It’s sure to be a box office hit and a great start to another successful year for the AYO.
